The commercial success of vinyl in the 60s as a cutting edge stereo music platform popularized a formula in which the song printed on the A-side would tend to be the ‘popular track’, commercially viable, radio friendly.
By the 60’s, the commercial success of vinyl records had popularised a format in which the song printed on the ‘A-side’ of the record would tend to be the ‘popular track’, more commercially viable, radio friendly.
While the B-side would often provide a more accurate reflection of the artist, or perhaps reveal their slightly more outlandish taste in music.
Many decades and a few technological tweaks later, the musical format remains a favourite amongst DJ’s, music collectors, and audiophiles.
The B-side continues to provide tracks full of character, many of the best edits, and a constant source of forgotten treasures.
We endeavour to broadcast the best of the B-side:
a weekly invitation into the impressive record collections of some of our favourite selectors.
An exploration into the the back-catalogues,
the deepest depths,
the darkest crevices of their collections.
Returning with the spoils of this venture:
their most cherished records and hidden gems,
from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home listening records,
and everything in between.
Music is for Sharing.
